Florida Live Scan (FDLE) fingerprinting in Oregon

If a Florida agency or employer needs your fingerprints but you live in Oregon, you don't have to travel to Florida. We take your fingerprints in Beaverton or at your location in the Portland metro area and get them to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), either electronically through an FDLE-registered Livescan submitter or on FD-258 cards for Florida's hard card scanning process.

Independent private service

Oregon Apostille Fingerprinting Notary is a private fingerprinting service and is not affiliated with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) or any Florida agency. Your background check is processed by FDLE, and you may use any FDLE-approved provider.

Florida Level 2 live scan and FD-258 fingerprint card service

Level 1 and Level 2 background checks

Level 1 and Level 2 are Florida terms defined in Chapter 435 of the Florida Statutes. A Level 2 screening is a fingerprint-based check of Florida records through FDLE and national records through the FBI, and it applies to jobs and licenses involving positions of trust, such as health care, schools, and child care.

A Level 1 screening is a name-based Florida check and usually doesn't require fingerprints. If a Florida agency or employer has asked you for fingerprints, you are most likely completing a Level 2 screening. Check your instructions if you're not sure.

Two ways to submit from Oregon

Electronic submission: your fingerprints are captured digitally and transmitted to FDLE by a Livescan submitter whose equipment is registered with FDLE. This is usually the fastest option. For Florida health care screenings, a photo is also taken at the time of fingerprinting so your results can be kept in Florida's Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.

Hard card submission: we roll your fingerprints on FD-258 cards, and the cards are sent to a Florida-approved provider that scans them and submits them electronically to FDLE. Florida allows this for out-of-state applicants. For health care screenings, a photo can't be added with this method, so you may need to be fingerprinted again later if you change Florida employers.

Who needs Florida fingerprints

Common reasons include a Florida nursing license by examination or endorsement, other Florida Department of Health professional licenses, health care jobs screened through the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) Clearinghouse, and Florida insurance agent and adjuster licenses through the Department of Financial Services.

Others include many licenses issued by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), Florida educator certification and school jobs, child care and other programs that require Level 2 screening, and coaches and volunteers for youth sports organizations.

Your ORI number matters

Every Florida agency has its own ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) number, which tells FDLE where to send your results. Get the ORI and reason for fingerprinting from the agency or employer that asked for your prints. With a wrong or missing ORI, your results won't reach them, and we can't choose an ORI for you.

Florida agencies generally can't share fingerprint results with each other, so if you are applying for more than one license, you may need a separate submission for each.

Free archive service

We keep your fingerprint record on file. If an agency rejects a card, asks for a second copy, or you need the same prints for another application later, we reprint or resubmit without a new appointment and without charging you again for the capture.

Agency, FBI, and card fees are set by those offices and still apply. Tell us the original appointment name and date when you call.

Questions about Florida Live Scan fingerprinting

How much does a Florida Level 2 background check cost?

Electronic submission to FDLE is $120, which includes the ORI fee. A Florida fingerprint card is $55 for agencies that accept mailed cards. FDLE and FBI processing fees are charged by the agency. Call (971) 514-3743.

Is the ORI fee included in the $120?

Yes, the ORI fee is included. Bring your ORI number or the instructions your agency sent, since prints submitted under the wrong code are rejected and have to be redone.

Can I complete a Florida Level 2 background check from Oregon?

Yes. Florida allows out-of-state applicants to submit fingerprints electronically through an FDLE-registered Livescan submitter or by hard card scanning. We take your fingerprints in Beaverton or at your location in the Portland metro area. Call (971) 514-3743.

What is the difference between a Florida Level 1 and Level 2 background check?

A Level 1 check is a name-based search of Florida records and usually doesn't involve fingerprints. A Level 2 check is fingerprint-based and searches both Florida records through FDLE and national records through the FBI.

Can I get fingerprinted in Oregon for a Florida nursing license?

Yes. The Florida Board of Nursing requires fingerprints to reach FDLE electronically with the Board's ORI number. The Board doesn't accept fingerprint cards directly, so cards must be scanned and submitted by an approved provider. We can capture your prints for either route.

I'm applying for a Florida insurance license and live in Oregon. What do I do?

Florida's Department of Financial Services has out-of-state applicants register with its fingerprint vendor, IdentoGO, first. If you choose the card option, IdentoGO mails you the fingerprint cards you must use. Bring those cards and your registration confirmation to your appointment.

How long are Florida fingerprint results valid?

It depends on the agency. For example, Florida insurance licensing results are valid for one year for new applicants. Check with the agency that requested your fingerprints.

How do I check the status of my Florida fingerprints?

Electronic submissions receive a Transaction Control Number (TCN). Keep it, because you or your agency can use it to check the status of your submission with FDLE.

What if I need another copy later?

We keep your fingerprint record on file, so reprints and resubmissions do not need a new appointment and we do not charge again for taking your prints. Agency and card fees still apply. Call (971) 514-3743 with the name and date of the original appointment.

People who book one of these often need another. All of them are available at our offices, and most by mobile appointment.
