Apostille and authentication requirements by country
The process for U.S. documents depends on where they're going. Countries in the Hague Apostille Convention accept an apostille. Countries outside it need authentication and embassy legalization. Choose a country for the steps, documents, and translation notes. We cover 36 destinations. As a private Document Authentication Facilitator (Apostille Facilitator), we prepare and courier requests for both processes. Already living in your destination country? See ordering from abroad — you don't need to be in Oregon, or even in the U.S., to use this service.
Oregon Apostille Fingerprinting Notary is a private courier service and is not affiliated with any government, embassy, or consulate. These guides are general information, not legal or immigration advice, and requirements change.

Country process questions
How do I know if a country accepts apostilles?
Check whether it is a contracting party to the Hague Apostille Convention, and when the Convention entered into force for it. The HCCH status table is the official list.
What is the difference between an apostille and authentication?
An apostille is a single certificate accepted by Hague Convention countries. Authentication is used for other countries and is followed by legalization at that country's embassy or consulate.
Can you help with a country that isn't listed?
Yes. Call (971) 514-3743 and tell us the country and document, and we'll explain the process and give you a price.
