Washington apostille courier service, handled from Oregon

Washington documents are apostilled by the Washington Secretary of State. If you live in the Portland metro and your document came from Washington, or was notarized there, we prepare and courier the request. Plan 4 to 5 weeks, because Washington processing is slow.

Independent private service

Oregon Apostille Fingerprinting Notary is a private courier and document authentication facilitator. We are not the Washington Secretary of State or any government agency. Government offices issue apostilles.

Washington apostille service for birth certificates, marriage records, diplomas, and business documents
A Washington Secretary of State apostille issued in Tumwater for a notarized document, with personal details redacted

Which Washington documents we handle

Birth, marriage, and death certificates from the Washington State Department of Health or a county auditor, court records, diplomas and transcripts, corporate records, and documents notarized by a Washington notary.

We are commissioned as notaries in both Oregon and Washington, so we can notarize your document for Washington and courier the apostille request in one go. That matters for powers of attorney and affidavits, where the notarization has to come from a Washington notary.

Why it takes 4 to 5 weeks

The Washington Secretary of State handles apostille requests by mail, and its queue is long. That window is set by the state, not by us, and no courier can shorten it.

Plan backwards from your consulate appointment or filing date. If your deadline is tighter than five weeks, call us before you order anything and we will tell you honestly what is possible.

Vancouver and Clark County

We serve Vancouver and Clark County directly for notarization and document collection, so a Washington document does not mean a trip to Olympia. Bring it to any of our offices or ask about a mobile appointment.

What a Washington apostille looks like

The certificate above is a real Washington apostille we obtained for a client, with the names, dates, and certificate number removed. Washington issues from Tumwater, and the certificate names the notary whose signature was verified.

Washington certificates can be verified online through the Secretary of State, which is useful if a receiving office abroad questions the document.

Documents for countries that do not accept apostilles

For the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, and other non-member countries, a Washington document needs authentication and then embassy legalization rather than an apostille. We quote that chain separately.

Everything in one place

Fingerprinting, the FBI background check, notarization, witnesses, certified translation, the apostille or authentication request, passport photos, and tracked shipping are all done by our own team, in our own offices.

That matters because these steps have an order. A translation done before the apostille usually has to be redone. A document notarized in the wrong state cannot be apostilled here. When one team handles the chain, those mistakes do not happen, and you make one call instead of coordinating four businesses against one deadline.

Apostille authentication explained: the courier service transports documents, the facilitator (Oregon Apostille Fingerprinting Notary) reviews, notarizes, and manages the process, the issuer (Secretary of State or U.S. Department of State) officially issues the apostille, plus common documents that need one and the five-step process from submission to return
How a state apostille works: confirm the destination country, get the right certified copy or notarization, courier to the Secretary of State, translate if required, then scan and ship

Each language has its own page with document types and rules.

A document in another language usually needs a certified translation as part of the process.

Questions about Washington apostille service

How long does a Washington apostille take?

Plan 4 to 5 weeks. The Washington Secretary of State processes apostille requests by mail and the queue is long. That timing is set by the state, not by us.

How much is a Washington apostille?

Our courier service is $195 for the first document and $65 for each additional document. Washington Secretary of State fees and shipping are separate.

Can you notarize my document for Washington?

Yes. We are commissioned in both Oregon and Washington, so we can notarize under a Washington commission and courier the apostille request together. Washington notarial acts are $15 each.

Can Oregon apostille my Washington document?

No. An apostille comes from the state that issued the document or where the notary is commissioned, so a Washington document goes to the Washington Secretary of State.

I live in Vancouver. Do I have to come to Beaverton?

No. We serve Vancouver and Clark County, and we can come to you. Call (971) 514-3743 to arrange it.

Signing, witnessing, translating, and authenticating documents. Book them together and we coordinate the order.
